SENIOR ACCOUNTANT ANALYST - HEALTH PLANS

Job Description:

Reporting to the Manager, Finance & Accounting (“Manager”), the Senior Financial Analyst, will have responsibility for regional accounting including internal financial statements, external financial statements, regulatory reporting (DOI & NAIC), monthly close and account reconciliations and special projects as assigned by Finance & Accounting management. The Senior Accountant Analyst, will be integral in managing the flow of information to auditors, and will be involved in preparation of materials for senior management.

Additionally, the individual will serve as the subject matter expert related to regulatory issues (DOI & NAIC) for the assigned state. The Senior Accountant Analyst will also work closely with the rest of the Finance management team, tax advisors and other financial service providers to the Company.

 

Responsibilities Include:

  • Prepare and present clear monthly reports outlining the operating performance of the Company. Provide timely and accurate financial information and a basic analysis of that information to Company leadership.
  • Preparation/review of Company financial statements and regulatory filings for accuracy and clarity.
  • Perform RBC (Risk Base Calculation) monthly and annually.
  • Perform account reconciliations and monthly close.
  • Monitors performance monthly and identifies variances to established budgets and forecasts. Investigates and analyzes causes of variances and keeps Company management informed of significant variances and their causes.
  • Works with the Accounting staff, external auditors, and legal to assure the maintenance of external and regulatory reporting requirements through the timely, accurate, and complete disclosure of operating results.
  • Keep abreast of changes in the accounting and regulatory environments and ensure that the Company is at all times fully compliant from both an audit and regulatory standpoint.
  • Ensure information is filed in an organized manner on the shared drive for Disaster Recovery purposes.
  • Other projects as requested by Accounting & Finance Management

 

 

Qualifications:

  • Education and/or Experience: Bachelor’s degree, with an emphasis in Business Administration or Accounting. Experience with DOI reporting is strongly preferred. Minimum of 5 years of related experience.
  • Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: CPA required
  • Other Qualifications: Excellent communication and reasoning skills
