Leeba Lessin photo

Leeba Lessin

CEO, CareMore Health System
Leeba Lessin has over 18 years of experience in the healthcare and managed care industries. Ms. Lessin became President of Northern California operations for PacifiCare in August 1998, and President of Southern California, PacifiCare's largest region with 1.2 million commercial members, 380,000 Medicare members, and $4.1 billion in revenue in 2000. At the time of her appointment in 1998, Ms. Lessin was vice president of provider delivery systems for PacifiCare, with company-management companies. Prior to joining PacifiCare in 1995, Ms. Lessin was President and Chief Executive Officer of Monarch Health Systems, a managed care delivery system operating in California's central coast region. Ms. Lessin received her BA degree from Westmont College in Santa Barbara and an MBA from the University of Washington. In 2002, Ms. Lessin formed Lessin Management Advisors, which provides consultation and strategic project management for companies in the healthcare industry.

Sachin Jain

Sachin H. Jain, MD, MBA

Chief Medical Officer
Dr. Jain is board certified in internal medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine. He graduated magna cum laude from Harvard College with a B.A. in government, continued on to earn his M.D. from Harvard Medical School, and an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School. While completing his medical residency at Brigham and Women's Hospital, he maintained a faculty appointment at the Harvard Business School and remains affiliated as a senior institute associate at the school's Institute for Strategy and Competitiveness.

Prior to joining CareMore, Dr. Jain served as Chief Medical Information and Innovation Officer at Merck & Co, where he developed global partnerships to leverage health data to improve patient health. He also served as an attending hospitalist physician at the Boston VA-Boston Medical Center and a lecturer in healthcare policy at Harvard Medical School.

From 2009-2011, Dr. Jain pursued government service at the US Department of Health and Human Services, where he was senior advisor to the administrator of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) and helped launch the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Innovation (CMMI). He also served as special assistant to the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology at the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ONC), supporting the agency's implementation of the HITECH Provisions of the Recovery Act and meaningful use. Dr. Jain is co-founder and co-editor-in-chief of the Elsevier journal Healthcare: The Journal of Delivery Science and Innovation.

In Dr. Jain's role as Chief Medical Officer for CareMore he has operational responsibility for clinical staff and CareMore care centers. He is charged with developing and leading strategy to expand next-generation care management and the care delivery model nationally.

Jason Barker

Jason Barker

President, CareMore Health Plan
Jason Barker has over 27 years of experience in the healthcare arena. His past roles have included President, CEO of the Eastern Montana region for the Sisters of Charity of Leavenworth Health System, and President, CEO of St. Mary Medical Center in Apple Valley California. While CEO of St. Mary Medical Center, Mr. Barker partnered with CareMore to bring the model to the High Desert region. Mr. Barker’s background is unique in that he has led hospital organizations, physician organizations, and has deep experience in leading provider-owned risk bearing organizations. Prior to joining CareMore, Mr. Barker led his organization through a successful selection process to become recognized as a Medicare Accountable Care Organization (ACO). Mr. Barker received his BA degree in Business Administration from the University of Washington, and his Masters in Healthcare Administration from the University of Minnesota.

Vish Sankaran

Vish Sankaran

Chief Operations Officer
Vish Sankaran is responsible for all of CareMore's shared services operations, operational design and technology, including designing infrastructure for the company's new business models. He is experienced in public-private collaborations, including exchanges. He was responsible for coordinating health IT implementation across 13 federal agencies while at the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services and has served as a senior advisor to the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services. Most recently, he served as healthcare operations and information technology strategist for Baltimore-based Ayus Health LLC.

Mike Plumb

Michael Plumb

Chief Financial Officer
Michael Plumb has over 20 years of experience in the healthcare industry and has been with CareMore since 2010. As Chief Financial Officer, he is responsible for all corporate finance and accounting activities and operations nationally. Additional accountabilities include CareMore products and services and leadership of the actuarial and underwriting operations for the organization. Prior to joining CareMore Mr. Plumb held various executive and consulting positions at other healthcare companies including United Healthcare, PacifiCare and Kaiser Health Plan. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of California, San Diego in Economics and a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from The Haas School of Business in Berkeley, California.

Dr. Gadhe

Balu Gadhe

Chief of Clinical Services
Dr. Balu Gadhe is a board certified internist, practicing Internal Medicine and Hospital Medicine for last 20 years, in Southern California. Dr. Gadhe joined CareMore as an Extensivist in 1993 and has been with the organization since that time. He began his administrative career with the company in 2006 as a Senior Medical Officer. Dr. Gadhe was involved in the development of the CareMore Clinical Model of care over the years, using his years of experience seeing patients and practicing medicine. Dr. Gadhe was appointed Chief of Clinical Services in March of 2013. In this role he is responsible for CareMore’s clinical organization.

Robert Lonardo

Rob Lonardo has over 30 years of experience as a Healthcare executive, including his position as Vice President of the Medicare IPA Division at FHP Health Care (acq-United Health Group), and Senior Vice President of Government Programs and National Accounts for Blue Shield of California. In Mr. Lonardo’s current role he is responsible for the company’s growth and development. Prior to Mr. Lonardo’s return to the company in 2013, he also served as CareMore’s Chief Executive Officer between 2004-2007. Mr. Lonardo received his BS in Business Administration from Youngstown State University in Youngstown, Ohio and a Master’s in Business Administration from California State University Long Beach, California.

Heather Del Villar

Heather Del Villar, MSN, ACNP-BC, CNS, WCC

Chief Nurse Practitioner of Clinical Programs Operations
Heather Del Villar, has been in the health care field since 2002 with different roles in education and clinical practice both in hospital and outpatient settings. She holds a Master of Science Degree in Nursing with a dual emphasis as an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner and Clinical Nurse Specialist from the University of California –Los Angeles (UCLA) - School of Nursing. She also obtained her Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing with a Minor in Psychology from Mount St. Mary's College (MSMC) in Los Angeles with a Leadership Scholarship. Prior to joining CareMore she worked as an ICU/CCU/CVICU Registered Nurse at St. Joseph Hospital of Orange where she was involved in the organization’s Frontline Leadership Academy, contributed to various improvement projects and committees, developed and implemented new policies and protocols for the organization, was awarded a scholarship, and served as the Co-Chair for the Diabetes Resource Unit. As part of the CareMore team since 2008, Heather worked in the Anaheim Care Center and later opened a successful expansion market in Northern California in 2009. Since then she has held different roles as a culture carrier, preceptor, trainer, Regional Clinical Manager, and Director. She implemented and created policies and procedures for the department, helped develop training curriculum, and provided oversight for all programs in the CareMore Care Centers across the nation. Heather understands that building integrated and coordinated care environments where Advanced Practice Clinicians can maximize their full potential, will only help to enrich the experiences, lives, and outcomes of the patients they touch.
