Findings In this retrospective cohort study of 14 635 older adults with type 2 diabetes participating in a Medicare Advantage plan, implementation of a health plan intervention that involved switching patients from analogue to human insulin was associated with a population HbA1c level increase of 0.14%.

Meaning Among patients with type 2 diabetes, a health plan intervention that involved switching from analogue to human insulin was significantly associated with a small increase in population-level HbA1c.
